February 17, 1849 (Saturday)

Cold.  Cold.  Cold.

Received a letter to-day from Uncle, informing me that he had received one from the Rev. Mr. Preston, of Pittsburgh, stating that my cloak, which had been sent to me in that place a month or more since, had been sent by a gentlemen to this city.  Called where it was to be left, and there it was.

Went to hear the “Vir. Ser.” this evening.

Vir. Ser. is the Virginia Serenaders, an act Nathan sees often.  For more information see the entry for January 18.
