June 5, 1849 (Tuesday)

This has been a delightful day.  So clear and a cool breeze blowing all the time.  The grass in Franklin Square, some of which has been converted into hay, was hauled away today, the odour of which was delicious.

Spent the evening with the Tildens.

Nathan talks about grass being cut in Franklin Square on May 31.

The Tildens are likely Hiram B. Tilden (b. ca. 1823, a clerk), his wife, Mary W. Tilden (b. ca. 1826), and their daughter Carrole (b. ca. 1846).
