August 6, 1849 (Monday)

Well, Still here, contrary to expectations.  Went out to the turnpike this morning in a most violent storm of rain to meet the stage, but had the mortification to find that it had passed.  Brotherinlaw—Moser and wife came home this evening.

Nathan’s brother-in-law is Reuben Moser (1815–1881) who is married to Nathan’s older sister Catharine (1820–1892). In 1850, they were living and farming in Robeson, Berks County, about 15 miles from East Nantmeal. Interesting that Nathan refers to his sister as wife of Moser after he has named his other two sisters.
