September 19, 1849 (Wednesday)

Cool and pleasant today.

Called on the Miss S—d—ns this evening but they were out.

As mentioned on September 9, Miss E—h S—d—n could have been one of several young ladies, however Miss Elizabeth M. Snowden (b. ca. 1828) was posited.  According to the 1850 U.S. census, Sophia R. Snowden (b. ca. 1830) and Ann K. Snowden (b. ca. 1835) were living in the same household.  This lends some credence to the Snowden hypothesis. Elizabeth, Sophia, and Ann are most likely sisters, however, relationships were not listed on the federal census until 1880.
