October 11, 1849 (Thursday)

Fine clear day, but rather cool.

Things have quieted down again, the excitement of the Election pretty much over, and the riotous portion of the community apparently settled.

Called on the Misses S—d—n this evening.

Election day was October 9.  For more on the riots, see yesterday’s post.

As mentioned in previous posts, the “Misses S—d—n” are perhaps sisters Elizabeth M. and Sophia R. Snowden.
