October 23, 1849 (Tuesday)

This has been a lovely day—so clear and mild.  The fair promenaders turned out in crowds to enjoy the rarity of a pleasant day.  In the early part of the evening, however, there was quite a thunder storm, after which I took the Misses S—d—n to the Exhibition.

As mentioned previously, the Misses S—d—n are probably Elizabeth and Sophia Snowden.  For more on the exhibition at the Franklin Institute, see the entry for October 18.
