September 10, 1849 (Monday)

This is delightful weather—hope it will be the same all the week as the Horticultural Exhibition commences on Wednesday and will last till Friday evening.  This is always a splendid affair.  Took a walk this evening and met an old acquaintance and schoolmate W.H. Guest.

The twenty-first exhibition of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society will begin on September 12 at the Chinese Museum.

The 1850 U. S. census lists a William Guest, machinist, age 24, boarding with the family of John L. Adams in Spring Garden (then a separate municipality).
